I visited Exmouth in Western Australia a few years ago to dive with Whale Sharks.  Exmouth is located north of Perth on the Northwestern coast of Australia.  This is a great little town right off the Koolgarie reef.  Exmouth use to be a submarine depot during the war and still has a submarine radio tower.  It is a fun small town, there is an outside movie screen (like in drive ins) on the base that is use by the locals.  You rent out bean bags and sit on the lawn and watch the movies (BYOB), it is awesome!  Viewing the stars of the Southern Hemisphere between movies is unreal!!  The town is small and has a quaint feel about it, the people are fantastic.  The restaurants and bars are basically those located in one of the four or five hostels/dive shops.  I stayed at the Pot Shot with a few mates of mine.  The beverage of choice was EB (Emu Bitters) with lots of fresh fish for dinner and lots of spicy jerky called road kill for snacks!  Your shout!
