Los Cabos or Cabo San Lucas is a great area, though it is definitely commercialized today.  I always wonder what it was like twenty or so years ago and some of the pictures you see and stories you hear, you wouldn't believe.  It is a great place to dive and yes play lots and lots of golf.  Being a new owner of a timeshare at the Los Cabo's Golf Resort (with scratch golfer John Giustina) along with the fact that it is a quick and direct flight from the bay area, it is now my home away from home.  If you stay on the outside of downtown you can experience some outstanding resorts and golf courses.  One of my favorites is the Westin, it is a beautiful and colourful hotel that sports an awesome pool (yes of course a swim up bar) and private beach.  The nightlife of course is downtown (just a shuttle ride away) where there is a plethora of restaurants and bars.  Some hot spots to hit are Squid Row (bring your liver), Panchos (largest tequila selection around), the Giggling Marlin, Sammy and his Cabo Wabo bar as well as other bars and restaurants lining the new marina area.  If you aren't into diving (Solmar shop is good and friendly) or golf then you have the choices of the beach and some sightseeing trips, I recommend a sail on one of the snorkel/booze cruises.  Make sure you hit my favorite bar, the world's smallest bar for a shot of tequila and photo with the cute bartender (tell Berla hi).
